LA Kitchen

Home / Causes / LA Kitchen

On Saturday, April 23, 2016, 25 volunteers organized by the Blue Divinity Foundation visited the LA Kitchen in downtown Los Angeles to help prepare meals for the culinary school. What the LA Kitchen does is take food from grocery stores that has had an “extended shelf life” and uses it  to teach people who are coming out of the foster care system or are just released from jail. So, if you really think about it, It is giving both the food and the people a second chance. The volunteers from Blue Divinity were able to cut a myriad of different vegetables that resulted in the cooking of over 20,000 pounds of food, and over 5,000 meals for seniors. Simply four hours of cutting vegetables by 25 people on a Saturday morning was able to give over 5,000 people a warm meal.
